Services - Hardware Upgrades
Technology is seemingly disposable these days. It has reached the point that electronic items don't (or were not designed to) last longer than heavy duty appliances. Thankfully there are newer technologies available that are minimally/moderately-priced that help empower your PC and get you more bang for your buck. Whether you need to replace a failing or damaged part, prefer a speed upgrade, or simply want the latest and greatest; Digi-Detox can do it! If you prefer to do homework and get helpful information first, check out the Buying Advice pages.
Processor/CPU

(Desktop computers only) Upgrading your processor or Central Processing Unit involves removing (what is essentially) the engine and replacing it with a better unit. This service also includes cleaning out your computer case at no extra charge. If you'd prefer to replace your existing CPU cooler with a quieter unit, there's no better time than when you upgrade your processor.
The image to the left shows an Intel stock cooler (left) against a more powerful aftermarket cooler already on the motherboard (right). The aftermarket cooler moves more air, cools better, and can have an additional fan installed to push more air! Click here for buying advice on motherboards/CPUs.

Hard Drive
Hard drives hold the operating system and your files, and these upgrades give you more storage space without breaking the bank. Digi-Detox can upgrade your desktop hard drive as a backup unit or replace your existing hard drive and allow you to use your old hard drive as a backup unit. If your existing hard drive has the recovery files used when restoring it from factory settings, we can clone the original drive and copy the recovery files to the new drive. Alternatively you can purchase a universal Windows DVD, have us install it and download the latest drivers, and you're ready to roll! Click here for buying advice on hard drives.
Memory

The addition of extra memory allows you to run more programs at once, and the price is well within your reach. If your system is already running efficiently you may not notice a significant speed boost with the extra memory installed, but it will help current and future programs run later on. Slower computers may get the speed increase immediately, even when booting up!
We will research your computer model for the optimal speed and type based on your system. No matter if you have a desktop or laptop, installing the memory is a quick process completed for a minimal fee.

Video Card

We can install a video card for your computing or gaming needs. While there are TONS of video card options available, (along with extreme card specifications that you wouldn't notice), Digi-Detox can help narrow down your options to make the research and buying choices much easier.
The video card to the right is an ECS-brand GT220 video card which has 1 GB of video memory along with (left to right) VGA, HDMI, and DVi outputs. Video cards such as this (under $50) will allow you to connect an extra monitor. Click here for buying advice on video cards.
Please note that some video cards draw more power than what your computer's power supply may be able to handle. Those video cards may require a power supply upgrade as well, which we can install for a small fee.

Computer Cases
Upgrading your case may not be considered a true upgrade at all, but it does have its benefits. Perhaps you would like your power and reset buttons located at the top of the case rather than the front. You might like to display the inner workings of your computer and would like to buy a case with a side window. Maybe you have plans to install extra hard drives and would prefer extra slots for storing those drives. A case upgrade is essentially a complete computer rebuild. The rebuild allows you to pick and choose more items at your disposal.
You can also have filters and dust covers installed which are helpful in preventing pet hair and dander from clogging up and dirtying the computer innards. You can replace your fans with fans that run quieter, faster, or even have color to them. You can also upgrade to a case that lies on your desk instead of standing up, freeing up floor space and making your DVD drive more accessible. Digi-Detox makes it possible! Extra Cards

Digi-Detox can install expansion cards in your desktop PC that provide you with additional features. Expansion cards come in various types:
- Sound Cards provide better audio and/or professional inputs.
- Networking cards provide wireless connectivity or a faster wired connection.
- USB cards gives you extra USB ports to connect external peripherals. Other cards such as this can also have older ports that allow older hardware to be used with your newer system.
- Hard drive cards have one or two types of interfaces on them that allow you to connect supplemental drives. These enable older drives to be used while others simply give you more ports if your main board has no more available ports.
